Little Taste of Home

After my first year in Tridelt I had not only gained a couple hundred new girlfriends, but a couple hundred new vacation spots!  In Tridelt we represent so many different parts of the world that you are bound to find someone in every region!  When traveling to Barcelona I knew a handful of Tridelts studying abroad.  I was fortunate to have one not only in Barca but also in my program!  Living with my best friend Kiersten and seeing a familiar Tridelt face in the IES building is that little bit of home that puts a smile on my face!

Back at school you could usually find me snuggling with my roomies under our heated blankets, sitting at Chipotle with the track team, making ridiculous music videos on photo booth or trying to blend in to the athlete academic center aka “The AC” and begging my friend Ali aka “Al Pal” to take me there so I won’t feel so awkward!  I like to think that I fit in pretty well with my hot pink laptop with DELTA DELTA DELTA stickered to the front it and snake skin school bag!  Although Ali likes to think that my all pink everything is ridiculous, all differences aside her and I have became the best of friends over the past two years and are now going to be roommates for my Senior year!

Fortunatlely, I was able to meet up with Al Pal while studying abroad at her new house in Gothenberg, Sweden!  She was going home for U of M’s spring break so I scheduled a last minute trip to visit her and her family!  I have gotten used to being surrounded by teenagers and sleeping in a twin size bed everywhere that I go that I forgot what it was like to be around a family and parents!  I quickly made myself apart of their family for the weekend and had an AMAZING time!

As soon as I arrived in Gothenberg, Ali and I filled each other in on our lives as we roadtripped it to Copenhagen, Denmark.  Yes I officially have gone on a road trip in Europe!

We had an amazing dinner and called it an early night because we were both exhausted from traveling all day!  We spent all of Saturday exploring Copenhagen and of course shopping!  The architecture of Sweden and Denmark were very different than any of the places I had gone so I made sure to take lots of pictures!

Had a great day hanging out in Copenhagen and finished with dinner and drinks! We had so much fun getting to know each other and joking around with one another!  Love the Speck Family <3

Laughing so hard that it hurt!

On Sunday we got up and had breakfast at the hotel and set out to see the Little Mermaid memorial.  The author of the Little Mermaid myth was from Copenhagen, Denmark so there is a statue that is dedicated to him and the story.

Definitely was not what I was expecting! But we still got to see it!

Ali and I made it our mission to take some Tridelt pictures together so that we could get up on the travel wall at Tridelt.  During recruitment we have a wall that goes along with our "Delta Airline" theme that has pictures of girls in our chapter all over the world throwing up "the delt" so here is what we came up with!

After exploring all day we roadtripped back to Gothenberg for some good ol' Swedish food and a typical lazy Sunday!!  We went to a traditional Swedish restaurant where I was able to order Swedish Meatballs and a Swedish beer! I was SO happy!  Ali and I snuggled in bed and watched a movie as usual and enjoyed some brownies and brownie batter that her sister made for us!

Swedish Meatballs and Mashed Potatoes! yummm

Spoiled with brownies <3

I was fortunate to make this the longest trip so far and stay from Friday until Monday!  Monday we explored Gothenberg and Ali showed me around to all the hot spots she knew...which was basically just food but I wasn't complaining!  It rained/snowed all day so I didn't take any good pictures, but that just means I will have to go back and visit! :)

It was SO nice to go and visit with the Specks.  I literally felt like I was apart of their family the entire weekend, which was just what I needed in the middle of this chaotic life that I am living in Barcelona!  We had a great weekend together and I can't wait for them to come visit Ann Arbor next fall for tailgating and more laughs!
